The second birthday of the Oldies Club is coming up at the end of March and we’re planning a few different events. In particular there will be three Anniversary walks: one in Norfolk, one in Cheshire and one in Gloucestershire. See details of times and locations below:

If you are in the Norfolk area:
The walk will take place at High Lodge, near Thetford from 10:00 hours on Sunday 15 April 2007 … all are welcome. High lodge is situated in a lovely location, part of the Brecklands Forest, and has many pleasant walking routes that are not too arduous for both dogs and their companions.

The walk will be held in conjunction with the Forestry Commissions inaugural “Walkies in the Woods” campaign to which the Oldies Club are affiliated. The OC will be having a stall, our helpers will be happy to chat about their role etc. we all look forward to seeing you on the day.

Bring along a picnic, or something to put on the barbie for a brilliant day out. This is a wonderful opportunity to meet friends old an new, catch up on the goss …. who knows you might even be on the telly!

There is a standard entrance fee of £6.00 per car, further details can be seen at http://www.forestry.gov.uk/thetfordforestpark

If you are in the Cheshire area:
The walk will take place at Delamere Forest Park, Northwich, Cheshire, CW8 2JD on Sunday 15 April 2007 from 11:00 hours.

Meet underneath the big wooden canopy just outside the visitors centre at 11.00. The OC representative will be there from about 10.45 with her hubby and two dogs (see Milly & Sisco for identification purposes!)

The exact route will be decided when everyone arrives (depending on the age/fitness of the dogs/humans!) – the waymarked routes are all very flexible so extra detours/short cuts can all be arranged. Bring a drink/snack and we’ll stop somewhere en-route for a breather.

Car parking costs £2, and the main car park is at the visitor’s centre. For further details see http://www.forestry.gov.uk/delamerehome. Everyone is welcome!

If you are in the Gloucestershire area:
The Oldies Club South West birthday walk will be at Keynes Country Park (between Swindon and Cirencester) from 11:30 hours on Sunday April 15th. Oldies Club friends, supporters and dogs of all ages are welcome – bring a picnic!

We will be meeting at 11:30 near the park entrance, and walk round the smaller lake (to the left as you drive in) – distance about 1.25 miles easy walking. Anyone who wants a longer walk can also take in the larger lake, which is a further 1.5 miles and includes a doggy bathing area.*

Full details and directions to Keynes Country Park are here. Normal car parking charges will apply.

* There is currently an area of this walk where fencing between the lake and the road is not secure, so please take great care with offlead dogs.

If you fancy coming along to one of the walks, it would be really helpful if we could get an idea of numbers, so please either pop along to the Oldies Club Forum at The Refuge to tell us you are coming, or alternatively drop us an email on oldies@oldies.org.uk.
