8/12/12 Thanks to an introduction through the Oldies website, Dolly has now moved to her new home in Devon. CDRS said ” She recovered really well from all the surgery she needed and grew into an affectionate and quite spirited little dog with loads of character. We will miss her a lot but feel certain she is going to be well cared for and very happy for the rest of her life.”
Dolly is a Bichon Frise type bitch (possibly purebred) who is in the safe care of Chilterns Dog Rescue Society, Tring, Herts. Because of her state of health, it has been difficult to accurately assess her age but the best estimate by the vet is between 7 – 9 years.
Dolly has clearly had a very tough time recently. She was rescued from a dog pound in a very distressed state and while she is not ready to be rehomed yet, staff at CDRS are inviting potential adopters to make an application sooner rather than later so a home can be lined up for her when she is ready to leave. Dolly is a affectionate dog who just wants to please. She would like to find a new owner with the time and patience to help her get over the surgery she needs and offer her a loving home.
Dolly showed many signs of neglect on entry to the rescue centre. The most obvious was damage to her left eye which had been left untreated. The eye had shrivelled and is due to be removed once she is strong enough for surgery. She also has some mild age related changes to her right eye but still has reasonable vision. Her teeth are also in appalling condition and most will need to be extracted. In addition she has a mild heart murmur and slight knee problems. Despite this catalogue of woes, Dolly is amazingly active and certainly does not feel sorry for herself now that she is in safe hands.
