11/3/13 Scooby has found a home!
Devilishly handsome Scooby has been waiting for 7 whole years – his whole life – for a home to call his own. He is a cute crossbreed lad about the size of a GSD who was either born or abandoned on the streets of Romania as a puppy. After spending his life there in a foster home after being rescued, he is now in the UK looking for a new home with the joint effort of Hillside Dog Rescue and Safe Rescue in Norfolk.
Scooby’s original fosterer in Romania found the poor puppy Scooby howling pitifully on the street. She ran to find out where the haunting cries were coming from and was met with the sight of the baby Scooby howling pitifully over the dead body of his sister, who lay dead in the road. Scooby was scooped up and consoled that day, but the situation in Romania was then, and is now, hopeless for any dog hoping to find a home.
For around five years, Scooby was kept at the fosterer’s home in a run in the garden while he waited along with so many other dogs for a home of his own. With the introduction of Facebook, his fosterer eventually made contact with Safe Rescue which has since been helping her dogs to find loving homes in the UK. Scooby’s chance came last spring when he was offered a rescue space at Hillside Dog Rescue in Norfolk.
Although Scooby emerged from the van to his new foster home terrified and hopelessly devoid of any skills on a lead it was thought that the care and training he would receive, along with his adorable good lucks would mean he would soon find a home of his own. Sadly, nearly a year later later, Scooby is still waiting his chance.
Scooby is now lead trained, but there are certain people he takes a dislike to which maybe remind him of troubles from his past. He is loving and sweet, however, with people he knows well. Hillside would prefer to rehome Scooby in the Norfolk area and, in this boy’s case, perhaps a couple of visits would be advisable before taking him home.
There are still things that Scooby will need to get used to, traffic being one of them, as his experiences and memories of cars are not happy ones.
