Oldies Club is celebrating older dogs! We are holding a fundraising photo competition for the fourth year running especially for dogs age 7 and over. The winning dog will represent the Oldies Club for the following year. The only rule for this competition is that dogs entering need to be veterans, they do not necessarily need to be rescue dogs to enter.

We have divided the UK up into 7 regions (North East, North West, South East, South West, Midlands, Scotland and Wales. The winner of each region will go forward to the Grand Final.

The competition will run for the month of March, closing at 9pm on Saturday 31st March 2012.

PLEASE don’t leave it till the last minute and risk missing out!!

How to Enter

Entry cost is £2 per entry (one photograph per entry). You may have as many entries as you wish. Payment can be made by Paypal or cheque.

Our address for Paypal is paypal@oldies.org.uk Please can you state when sending the money that it is for WOOF FACTOR, who you are and which photos the payment relates to.

If anyone wishes to pay by cheque please can it be made out to Oldies Club and sent to : 49A Kinross Close, Cinnamon Brow, Warrington, Cheshire, WA2 0UT (Please do NOT send photographs to this address). Please can you make sure you send a note with your payment so we know who you are and which photos the payment are relates to.

NB. You must own the copyright of the pictures you are posting as any photos entered may be used for future promotional material by Oldies Club. No studio shots such as those taken at Pets at Home events.

Oldies Club Committee members are unable to take part in this competition. This rule does not apply to helpers or other associates.

Photos should ideally be a headshot or show the dog clearly.

**Please resize your photos to 640 x 480 pixels before emailing them.**

Photos will need to be sent to events@oldies.org.uk. Please state name and age of the dog and also which region you are in. Please do not send us hard copy photos through the post.

Only those photos which have their entry fee paid by the deadline will be sent to the judges.

Rosettes will be awarded to the 1st – 3rd place winners in each region. Regional winners will also win goody bags.

Prizes have kindly donated by Bob & Lush, Rosewood and Pet J’Adore.

Each Regional winner will receive a bag of each of Bob & Lush’s tasty venison and cod skin 100% natural air-dried treats.

Overall winner & reserve will receive prizes from Rosewood.

The overall winner will received from Bob & Lush a 3kg box of their Premium Duck Kibble and a tray of 20 their Premium Lamb Wet Food pouches. They will also receive a stunning Danish Design Morocco Snuggle Bed from Pets J’Adore

Presenting the Judges

Marc Abraham

Oldies Club Patron Marc Abraham is the TV vet giving the nation pet advice on ITV’s This Morning, BBC Breakfast, Daybreak, and Sky1’s My Pet Shame. A fully practicing vet Marc passionately promotes responsible pet ownership, rescue pet adoption and animal welfare; as well as actively campaigning against the cruel industry of puppy farming including creating Pup Aid puppy farming awareness day. Marc has his own iPhone app for dog-owners called Canine Care and has written two books Vet on Call, and his brand new book for animal-loving children Pets in Need (pictured). Fiona Campbell (Head Nutritionist) & Rowan Flindall (Organiser of Burns’ Dogs’ Day Out)

Since gaining a degree in Zoology from Swansea University Fiona has worked as a Nutritional Advisor for Burns Pet Nutrition for over 10 years. She is the author of two books on rabbit care and is qualified in Canine Massage. Fiona has competed in CaniX, Flyball and Agility with her dogs. She currently shares her home with Yogi, an 8 month old Collie X Lab rescue dog, a cat, four rescue rabbits and a mouse.

Rowan has been actively involved in the organisation and running of animal related events for over thirty years. She has worked for Burns Pet Nutrition for 8 years and for much of this time she coordinated the company’s support of animal rescues throughout UK. She shares her home with Tao, a 7 year old Collie x Saluki, and Poppy, a very senior kitizen.

Chris Daw

Chris is a trustee and trainee volunteer search dog handler with SARDA South Wales, a search and rescue dog unit that is part of mountain rescue. He rehomed Murphy from Four Paws Animal Rescue in south Wales to train as a search dog, having volunteered with the team for many years before that hiding from other trainee search dogs as part of their training.

Since adopting Murphy, Chris has supported Four Paws Animal Rescue and other independent rescues, and helped to build strong links between them and search dog teams.

When not volunteering in these roles, Chris works for Cynnal Cymru, a non-profit organisation promoting sustainable development in Wales. Murphy is a regular visitor to the office too, and likes nothing more than to spend the day snoozing under a desk!

Alison Elks

Alison is proprietor of Merry Dogs, an online dog-friendly dog accessories store. Merry Dogs is run as an ethical company and regularly supports dog charities, of which Oldies Club is one of their favourites. Lisa is a Canine Psychologist, and is director of The International School of Canine Psychology and founder of The Dog Issues Advice Line. She’s the author of 13 books, including ‘Adopting a Rescue Dog’ (Phoenix Rising Press), and is a member of The Association of INTO Dogs, an organisation for behaviourists and trainers who promote positive, compassionate methods.
