7/2/13 Ben has gone to his new home!
This lovely looking boy is Ben and he is a 10 year old Cocker Spaniel in search of a new retirement home. He came to National Animal Welfare Trust due to him not coping well with the toddler in his previous home and who could blame an older boy for that?
Ben is a very cuddly boy who enjoys the company of people. He greets everyone he meets with enthusiasm, although he is very polite about it. He just likes to make sure everyone feels appreciated!
Ben is a typical Cocker Spaniel in many ways, especially when he smells something interesting and needs to pursue it at all costs! If nothing has caught the attention of his nose, he walks very nicely and has good recall. Unfortunately when his nose is ruling his head, he can sometimes pull and his recall becomes very selective.
Ben will chase rabbits and cats so he is not suitable to live with them, but he could live with another dog. He lived with another dog in his previous home and would be happy to have another doggy friend in his new home.
Ben would prefer not to live with younger children but can share his home with calm older children who will give him space when he wants his down time.
He is not particularly interested in toys but he loves his walks. He is still fit and active and really enjoys running around the off-lead paddocks at the rescue, especially if the rabbits have been visiting!
Ben is a clever boy who picks up tricks quickly. He currently counts sit, paw, leave it, stay and down in his repertoire of tricks and he is happy to learn even more if someone is willing to teach him.
