25/4/14 – Sweet little Jack has found a home at last!
Jack is a 14 year old Jack Russell Terrier who has been at Birch Hill Dog Rescue near Cleobury Mortimer, in Shropshire, since his owner died. Before being taken to Birch Hill, Jack spent 10 days living on his own, being fed by a neighbour. The poor lad must have been so confused and frightened.
He is a lovely little dog to have around and it is amusing to see him skipping about like a puppy. He is quite active for his age and loves mooching around the garden. He is living in the house at Birch Hill and he gallops up and down the stairs with no problem. And he eats his food with much enthusiasm. Jack is fine with most other dogs – he seems to take a dislike to some dogs though, for some unknown reason. He could live with older children.
Jack is a nice dog who should really be settled in a new home by now, and the only thing that is holding him back is that Jack really won’t tolerate being picked up. Something has happened to him in the past to make him feel this way, and his new owners must accept this and not try to pick him up. He will come over for head rubs but that is as much physical contact as he likes. He also needs to know where your hands are but this could be because his eyesight isn’t 100%.
Other than the picking-up thing, Jack isn’t fazed by much and loves nothing more than to lie down chewing a pigs ear. He loves his walks and usually jumps about waiting for you get a move on. He can walk a fair distance for his age but at his own pace.
Jack is on Birch Hill Dog Rescue’s fostering scheme, which means they will cover any age-related vet bills. Could you offer Jack a nice retirement home with some home comforts, and promise to not pick him up?
