Meet Max! He is a gorgeous 10 year old Border Collie who is seeking a new home because he wasn’t coping with the young children in his previous one. Max is currently being cared for in a foster home for National Animal Welfare Trust in Berkshire.
Max thought that he had found a home recently, but it fell through at the last minute, so he’s still waiting.
Max is a friendly boy who loves being around people. He like to greet new people by sitting on their feet and resting his head against their leg! He is happy to settle at your feet and enjoy a good cuddle without getting up on the furniture.
Max didn’t go for a lot of walks in his previous home because he can be a bit strong when he first sets off because of the excitement of it all. He settles quickly though when he finds interesting things to sniff. Because of his lack of walks, he is overweight at the moment, but he has started a diet and is being gradually built up with walks to get him fit again. His new family will need to continue this until he loses some of those extra pounds.
A typical Border Collie, Max is a very clever boy and he loves to play with toys. He especially enjoys playing fetch each day and is also improving his education by learning to run through a tunnel and giving paw. When he learns something new, he gets more toys, so the incentive is there!
Max may be willing to share his new home with another dog but he doesn’t want to live with cats. He has shown very little interest in the livestock here the sanctuary, even the sheep seem to bore him!
Although Max struggled to live with the children in his previous home he may be suitable to live with older children who will understand his collie ways and will give him his space when he needs it.
