Say hello to Bailey, a fabulous Jack Russell terrier who is a lively, active old gent at the age of 11. Sadly, Bailey has been waiting in rescue since 2013. :( How such a cute little character who is full of terrier quirks and personality could still be waiting after all that time is a mystery and we hope by featuring him again someone will notice him at last.
Bailey originally arrived at Rescue Remedies when his owner became too ill to care for him. He was a much loved pet in his former home, but his routine had become disrupted due to his owner’s illness which upset him very much. Since being in rescue, he has spent time in both kennels and foster homes, but what he really needs is a permanent home where he can feel secure and loved for the rest of his life.
Bailey possesses a true terrier temperament and is seeking owners who know and love the breed. He would like an active home with a set routine where he can have lots of love and, of course, treats! He has shared his various foster homes with other dogs, but would do best as either an only dog or with a calmer canine companion. Mostly he needs experienced owners who will give him the time and space he needs to feel settled. He can be a little aloof at first, but once you gain his trust, he is very friendly and affectionate. However, he is not the type who always wants to be stroked or fussed; he has important things to do and lots of things that need to be thoroughly sniffed!
Bailey is happy to have human company though and is content just to hang out with you in the garden or on the sofa. He also enjoys his independent time where he can lie back and contemplate the meaning of life, preferably in the sunshine! His new owners will need to understand that Bailey needs his own space sometimes.
Despite his age, Bailey is very energetic and likes having long walks, running around and frolicking like a little puppy. At home, he likes to play with his toys. He likes having lots of stimulation and is always busy, when he is not snoozing!
Bailey has shared his foster home with children, but would do best in a home where any children are older, calm and used to dogs. He really just needs a quiet home and a set routine and to know he is secure and loved. He does not stint on the affection once he knows and trusts you and he has plenty of love on offer.
Bailey is a real treasure and will make his forever home brighter with his affectionate nature and his desire to please.
