3/4/15 Very sad news: Roman found a foster home with one of our lovely regular foster carers and was settling in nicely. But tragically, Roman became very poorly and has had to be put to sleep. Our thoughts are with his foster carer who is so very upset as she already loved little Roman dearly. Sleep tight now special boy.

Roman is a gorgeous small Collie x Terrier boy, aged 12, whose owner has sadly passed away. Roman was put into kennels temporarily by the local authority, but when funding stopped, he had nowhere to go. Luckily for Roman he is now in Oldies Club care, and we have taken him into kennels in Milton Keynes as an emergency measure, but we would like to get him into a foster home as soon as possible.

Roman has been assessed by one of our volunteers at the kennels, and is described as: “a lovely little dog – not much bigger than a Jack Russell – who knows ‘sit’ and gives his paw, and he takes treats gently. He ran around a lot, but that’s because he was so glad to get out of his kennel, bless him. He calmed down after he’d been out a while”.

Looking for the Roman baths!

The kennels staff say that Roman is a friendly lad who is eating well and is clean in his kennel, so it seems that he is housetrained. He’s good on the lead and responds to his name.

Roman hasn’t been thoroughly dog tested just yet, but he seems fine with dogs around the kennels – he took no notice of other dogs that he walked past. As we don’t know if Roman is used to children or cats, he needs a foster home without them.

Roman hasn’t yet been neutered. He has glaucoma in one eye, for which he needs daily drops, but he seems to be generally in good health. He can see and his hearing seems fine. He is still an active boy and enjoys a run around.

After a tough time, Roman really deserves some home comforts while he’s waiting for a permanent home to come along – could you offer him a loving foster home?

Oldies Club will arrange transport to his foster home, so it would be ideal if you are a reasonable distance from Milton Keynes. Oldies Club will cover the cost of Roman’s medical care whilst he is in foster. You can read more about fostering for Oldies Club here.
