We are very sad to have to update this page with the news that little Sally has passed away :-(. Sally arrived in Oldies Club care about six months ago and was quickly diagnosed with liver failure. She has received a great deal of love and care since then and enjoyed life, but recently stopped eating and seemed to have given up. We are so glad Sally had the opportunity to receive such wonderful care in her final months and our thoughts are with her lovely fosterers. Sleep tight, little Sally, knowing you are loved x

Please note: we are not issuing sponsor packs for Sally, as we usually do for our sponsor dogs. If you are looking to sponsor a dog for yourself or as a gift for someone else and receive one of our sponsor packs, please select another of our lovely dogs to sponsor here.

We are however inviting people to read Sally’s story and then make a donation towards her care HERE.

Sally JRT Oldies Club-1s

Hello, I am Sally, a JRT, who recently came into the care of Oldies Club, a small volunteer-run rescue that rescues and rehomes older dogs in the UK.

Many people have commented on how sad I looked when Oldies Club shared this photo of me, which was taken before I arrived in the charity’s care. I do look rather sad, don’t I? Oldies Club is all about finding forever homes for older dogs – and giving older dogs a second chance that they might not otherwise have, so they thankfully agreed to take me in. Everyone hoped after lots of love and TLC in my lovely foster home that I could be put up for adoption, but sadly that wasn’t to be. A vet visit and blood tests shortly after I arrived in Oldies Club care revealed that I am suffering from both kidney and liver failure. The vet also suspects cancer, but given my other health worries, the charity will not be putting me through further procedures in that regard.I am currently still eating, drinking and enjoying pottering in the garden, but honestly, no one knows how much time I have left. My foster family have only known me a short while, but were very upset at the news and asked if I could stay with them for whatever time I have left. Everyone hopes I will be able to stick around for a good while to come, of course.

With all this in mind, I have been placed in Oldies Club’s sponsor dog scheme, meaning I will remain in my lovely foster home on a forever basis, with the charity covering all vet bills for the rest of my life. I know my foster family will spoil me in any way they can and I am definitely in the best possible place now.

Due to all of the above, I am not available for sponsorship in the usual Oldies Club way, but I have (with some help) set up a fundraising page and I invite you to make a donation towards my care. Oldies Club does not yet have any idea of what caring for me will cost, so I have started this page off with a £zero total.

Please give whatever you can – Oldies Club is only able to continue helping older dogs like me, with your help. Please note that should Oldies Club supporters be generous enough to donate more than is needed for my vet bills/costs, any excess money will be directed to the charity’s general fund and used to help other older dogs in its care, of which there are sadly plenty. Please ask your dog-loving family, friends, colleagues etc. if they would like to help too.

Thank you.

Love, Sally xxx
