2/6/16 Gertie sadly was found to have cancer and she has now passed away. Rest in peace beautiful Gertie.

This little cutie is Gertie, a 9 year old Staffy lady with a very friendly and loving nature. Gertie is currently being cared for at Senior Staffy Club until her new family finds her and brings her home for good.

We will let Gertie take over her story now!

‘Hello, I’m Gertie.

I have just come into Senior Staffy Club care but for the past 3 years I have been in kennels at another rescue waiting for a home. Now, between you and me, I am getting very worried that I’m never going to find my forever home! I’ve got years left in me yet and I don’t want to spend them all in kennels!

However, the Senior Staffy Club have taken me under their wing now and I am hoping so much I can find my forever home. I have heard rumours that they’re very good at finding homes for middle aged ladies like me.

I don’t mind other dogs as long as they mind their own business and leave me alone. I do have a bit of a grumble under my breath if they bark at me.

They’re very nice to me here and take me for lovely walks which I so enjoy, I love sniffing all over the place, but they tell me rolling in smells is a no-no!! I do walk very nicely on my lead, which apparently is a good thing. I know how to sit and give my paw, that’s good too, isn’t it?

I have been rudely informed that I am a little overweight and have been put on a diet, what a cheek! I do so love my treats, I keep asking nicely but they only let me have 1 or 2. Do you think you might be more generous with the treats?

I am OK around older children and had a little friend at my previous kennels who was 8 who used to come and visit me and we got on fine. So children around the same age would be nice to live with as long as they know not to be too rough with me.

I like going for car rides, so can you come and take me away to your home, please nicely??

I really hope to see you soon, I so want to meet my forever family

Love Gertie xx’

Gertie is spayed, vaccinated and micro-chipped. She is in kennels in the Stafford area but can be rehomed anywhere in the UK, pending a successful home visit. However any adopter should be willing to travel to meet her where he is now.
