10/1/18 – Barley has gone to his forever home!

Fluffsome Barley is an 11 year old Bichon Frise X Terrier in the care of RSPCA West Hatch Animal Centre in Taunton, Somerset. He can live with another similarly lovely dog and dog savvy, older children but he puts his paw down when it comes to cats. Baffling creatures that they are!

West Hatch say, “Barley was rescued and taken into care with a long standing skin infection which had left him with sores and bald patches all over his body. Veterinary treatment which included medicated baths and eye drops have been successful in fighting the infection, the sores have now cleared up and a lovely, white woolly coat is growing back, giving Barley the appearance of a scruffy little lamb.

“Despite his past problems, Barley has remained a delightful, friendly chap who loves to settle on the sofa with staff and volunteers, quietly looking out at the world going by. He can be a little anxious in new surroundings initially and would love to find a new home with people who are at home most of the time to keep him company and get him used to being left for short periods.” He’d probably be happiest with a nicely predictable routine.

Barley is neutered. He needs eye drops twice a day. They’re not expensive and he’s very good about having them done. Staff at the centre will help you get the hang of doing them. And his lovely, fluffy coat will need a regular brushy brush!
