22/11/17 – Brilliant news for Billy! After being featured as our Old Dog of the Week, he had lots of enquiries from people who had seen him on the Oldies Club website, and now he has happily moved to his new home. Wonderful result!

Gorgeous Billy is a friendly 10 year old Staffy Cross boy who has been waiting at Ashbourne Animal Welfare in Derbyshire for far too long and, quite frankly, he is starting to think he will never leave.

Please help Billy to be seen by as many people as possible by sharing his page!

Billy is an affectionate boy who absolutely loves a cuddle. He finds himself in rescue because his owner had to move to a flat and Billy couldn’t go along. This must have been an especially hard change of circumstances for Billy because he used to spend so much time with his person and even used to go to work in the van with his owner. Poor Billy must wonder what has happened to his happy life.

Billy would love a home where he can spend most of his time with his people, as that is what he is used to. He could be left for short periods, but he might be a bit anxious so wouldn’t suit someone who works full time — unless he can go along with you of course!

Billy has lived with children previously so would be happy to do this again, but they would need to be aged at least 5 to comply with Ashbourne Animal Welfare’s rehoming policy. Billy isn’t used to cats but he could share his home with a similar-sized calm female dog as he got on great with a staffy girl who went to visit him.

He is OK with most dogs he meets when out on the lead. He can be quite interested in small dogs or any that react to him, but he’s not too strong so is easy to move in the direction you want him to go. He walks nicely on a lead and harness, and he has great recall too. What a star!

Fun-loving Billy loves toys and he really enjoys a game of football. After a good play session he likes to relax in his bed with a nice tasty chew.

The rescue told us: “Billy recently went out on one of our sponsored walks to a country park and he behaved perfectly… didn’t put a paw wrong! He enjoys day trips out with the staff and is always extremely well behaved. He has become a firm favourite with our volunteers and we are desperate to see him get a home.

It’s so unfair that a devoted dog like Billy is stuck in rescue when he would make a great friend for a fun-loving family. He’s so fed up in rescue and isn’t coping well with kennel life. Could you offer Billy the lovely home he is hoping for?
