1/10/17 – Desy has found a home!
This adorable little sausage is Desy who is a 10 year old little lady, possibly a Yorkie or Chihuahua cross. Little Desy was originally adopted in Spain, but is now seeking a new home through no fault of her own in the UK. She is being assisted with this by Starfish Dog Rescue.
Little Desy can best be described as a funny little soul and she will always make you laugh at her little antics. Like many small dogs, she has a big personality that more than makes up for her lack of size. She is a bit overweight at the moment, so her new owners will need to help her regain her girlish figure. She is a bit of a potterer on walks, stopping often to thoroughly sniff her surroundings before moving along. She is great on the lead. Occasionally, she is overwhelmed by the urge to start running as fast as her little legs can carry her and she does have her playful moments, as you can see in the below video.
Desy does have a heart condition and is on medication for this. This is more as a preventative than anything else, and it is hoped that if she loses the weight she needs to, her problems will resolve.
Desy is currently in a foster home with her Aunty Sherlie, which she shares with six other dogs, a cat and visiting teenagers. She gets on with the other dogs, although she will guard her food and sometimes sneak the other dogs’ food if given the chance! She grumbles when annoyed with her fellow canines, but does not follow through on any threats! With people, she adores being cuddled and snuggling in her bed. She often burrows into her blanket and sucks on it – too adorable!
Desy is a quirky little soul who can often display an independent streak. She would make a lovely companion to an older retired person or couple with or without another dog to keep her company. She may be fine to live with dog-savvy cats and older children. Wherever she ends up, she will bring her new people much happiness!
