14/1/18 – Handsome Duke has gone to his new home! Splendid news!

———————–

Duke is a gorgeous 8 year old Rottweiler boy who is at RSPCA West Hatch Animal Centre near Taunton in Somerset, following a change in his previous owner’s circumstances. Duke is a friendly, sociable lad who is good with dogs and cats and he can also live with children aged 11+.

As you can see in the photos, Duke has very interesting colouring which makes him strikingly handsome. This is due to vitiligo which is simply a lack of pigmentation in certain areas of his skin. Duke has also suffered from a skin and eye condition for most of his life which caused sores on his legs, muzzle and eyelids. This condition has now been treated and he is ready for rehoming. His unusual markings are not related to the past skin condition.

Duke is a big, strong boy but he is also incredibly affectionate with people and he enjoys nothing better than curling up on your lap if you let him and are strong enough! Duke loves his walks but is very strong on the lead and so West Hatch are providing training to help address this. He also has a strong interest in wildlife and farm animals, so he pulls even harder if he picks up a scent.

Duke is looking for a home with people who have experience of Rottweilers and who are looking for a fantastic companion who will no doubt turn heads and help you get chatting to lots of new doggy people!

West Hatch told us that “Duke has a veterinary disclaimer detailing his past skin issues”. They will be happy to discuss what this means. Duke is neutered.
