Groovy (Romford Greyhound Homing, Essex)

groovy-1

30/03/17 – Groovy has been adopted after being seen on Oldies Club! Hooray!

Gorgeous Groovy is a very patient, affectionate Greyhound of 9 years, who’s in the care of Romford Greyhound Owner’s Association (RGOA) in Essex. She’d be best suited to a really peaceful home with no other pets. She doesn’t need walks, just a nice, secure garden.

Groovy is retired racer (racing name Groovy Baby) who has only ever lived in kennels. It’s high time she knew the comfort and safety of a loving home. She’ll need understanding owners who will help her get used to life indoors. Being a Greyhound she’ll be a sensitive soul who will only respond to gentle treatment and positive reinforcement training methods. She might take a while to settle in but she’ll reward your efforts with endless affection and devotion. She is such a loving girl!

This beautiful girl has been overlooked for far too long. Possibly because she sometimes tells other dogs to go away out of nervousness but now she doesn’t need to go out for exercise, this isn’t an issue. As long as she has a garden, Groovy will be happy.

A volunteer at RGOA called Graeme had this to say about Groovy, “She’s absolutely lovely and definitely my favourite. She’s very affectionate and always seems happy to see me. She loves eating mackerel, sardines and yoghurt, which is all really good for her…although she’s going a bit grey, she’s still very sprightly. We think she’d suit an elderly person with a garden so she can run around there a bit but not go on too many walks…I really hope someone will adopt her soon!

“…People who don’t know much about Greyhounds usually assume they’re very energetic but this isn’t the case at all! They actually spend a fair bit of their time not doing much. We call them couch potatoes! They’re also very passive. They make fantastic pets.”
