Ruby-Roo is a very pretty 8 year old Staffy girl who has spent years living in a garden. She is now in Senior Staffy Club‘s care, in a foster home near Droitwich, looking forward to finding the happy home she must have been dreaming of.
Because of her unfortunate past, Ruby-Roo is initially wary of people and she needs time to get to know them. SSC’s behaviourist and her foster carers are working on this, so that she meets as many people as possible and learns to trust again. Sometimes she doesn’t really know what she wants: she loves to be stroked, but then if she can’t see your hand she can get scared that you might hit her. Once she knows you, she will do anything you ask of her and loves nothing more than to fall asleep touching you.
Her foster carers think that Roo has learned that growling makes people go away, so now it is the thing she does straight away, but it’s just her way of saying “I’m not quite ready for that yet, can we slow down?” Everything is still a bit confusing, but Roo is learning that when she meets new people, they are nice and won’t hurt her. Roo needs a quieter household, but she is extremely loving, loyal and playful once she knows you.
Roo is enjoying being able to play and have fun! She learns tricks very, very quickly. She also has good recall (as long as there are no animals involved). She likes to sleep. Roo is very good in the car, even for long distances. She will curl up and go to sleep in the footwell, but will happily sleep in the boot as well.
Roo is fine to be left on her own for a few hours, is clean in the house and doesn’t chew furniture, only her toys. Her foster carer says she is excellent at reading human emotions as well and knows when you are upset or happy and will come over to see what’s going on.
Roo has been learning lots of new things, and her favourite game is muzzle training! She has a high prey drive and acts very fast, so needs a home with no other animals. She is sadly rather scared of children, so needs an adult-only home.
Ruby Roo is in foster in the Droitwich area but can be rehomed anywhere, so long as you can travel to meet her.
