11/11/17 – Pretty little Frances has gone to her new home!

Frances is a very pretty 12 year old small Crossbreed girl — with some Sheltie and Corgi in the mixture — who came into the Oldies Club rescue due to her owner’s poor health. Frances is in an Oldies Club foster home in Gosport, Hampshire, waiting for someone to offer her a loving, permanent home.

A good girl in foster care: Frances settled at her foster home within a week. She arrived with her brother, Dermot, but his health deteriorated to the point where he sadly had to be put to sleep. :( Frances is such a lovely girl and has been very good in foster care. She isn’t a barker and is quiet.

Can be left: Frances is fine to be left on her own for a few hours and could live with a part-time worker. However, she isn’t used to being left completely on her own so would like to live with another calm dog.

Wants to live with another dog: Frances is happily living with her foster carer’s 13 year old Collie, and until recently she lived with her brother. A home with a calm older dog to show Frances the ropes and offer her reassurance and company would be perfect.

Needs a home without cats: Frances doesn’t like cats.

Could live with children aged 8+: Frances would be fine to live with well-trained, kind children aged 8 years plus.

Enjoys walks and a run: Frances is slow to start with on walks but she can run like a whippet across a field. She has good recall. She approaches people and other dogs in a friendly way, but she is wary of puppies as they are too playful for her. Frances is enjoying two 15-20 minute walks per day, or one 30 minute walk, depending on how she is feeling on a particular day and also on the weather!

Good in the car: Yes she is!

Frances’s favourite pastimes: She loves being a lapdog. She loves people and other dogs. She will chase squirrels and pigeons in the garden.

Frances’s dislikes: She’s not keen on being petted on her head and she’s frightened of small children. She can be timid and shy until she trusts you, but once you have her trust she is a very loving dog. She’s never aggressive, just submissive.

Frances’s ideal home: She is being fostered in a busy family household. She sleeps a lot during the day, particularly after a walk. She will come to you for affection and will take herself off for quiet time when she wants it. Frances would like to live with another calm older dog.

Health notes: Frances is neutered, vaccinated, microchipped and has been wormed and flea treated. She has had a dental and needed to have 10 teeth removed. She has no current health issues and isn’t taking any medication.

Frances in a few words: Loving, loyal, very sociable and has a sweet smile!

More from Frances’s foster carer:She is a perfect old lady. She can be a fussy eater and a grazer, but is partial to half a cup of tea in the morning with biscuits!

If you would love to offer a home to an oldie but your circumstances aren’t suitable, perhaps you would be kind enough to sponsor one of the special oldies we are caring for that, due to health problems, are unlikely to be offered a permanent home.
