11/1/18 – Turca is in a foster home and is reserved!
Turca is a very beautiful 11 year old German Shorthaired Pointer. Poor Turca has had a tough life. She was used for breeding and hunting and then, when she was of no more use, she was discarded by her owner at a high kill shelter. Fortunately, The Fairy Dog Fosterers stepped in and rescued her, and Turca is safe in the UK in a foster home in Manchester. All she needs now is a loving forever home.
Turca has spent most of her time locked in a crate producing puppies, her only freedom being a hunting trip with her owner. Despite her horrible past, Turca is a very friendly, loving girl who just wants fuss and companionship. She’s good with people of all ages, but the rescue think her ideal home would be with children aged 8 years or upwards.
Turca is clean in the home and she can be left for short periods, perhaps a couple of hours. If she’s left longer she can get a little anxious, so ideally she’d like someone she can spend a lot of time with.
Turca is very good on her lead and her recall is coming along quite nicely. She obviously has a high prey drive, so she can’t live with cats or other small furries, but she is good around other dogs. She wouldn’t mind being the only dog in her new home, but she would be equally happy sharing with other friendly canines.
Despite her age, Turca still has lots of energy. She plays with her toys and although she enjoys her home comforts she does yearn to be outside. She’s going to need an active home with someone who can take her for plenty of interesting walks.
Turca cannot go to a home where she will be crated. After spending 10 years in one, it wouldn’t be fair to do this to her again.
Turca is spayed and in good health.
