Sam (Ark, Lincolnshire Coast)

25/7/10 We’re very happy to hear that Sam has now found a new home!

—————

Sam is a 12 year old Collie X who came into rescue at the Ark with his best friend Sadie after their owner died. Sadie has now found a new home, leaving Sam still waiting for his turn.

It appeared that Sam and Sadie had never been outside their own house and garden since being puppies, so they have been gradually socialised at the Ark. Sam is getting used to people and is now a friendly boy. He is good with dogs generally but he sometimes tries to ‘hump’ them so if he was to share his new home with a dog it would need to be a dog that would be happy to put him in his place. He doesn’t seem interested in cats and so he could possibly live with a cat – given careful introductions of course.

He’s not too good on the lead yet – he wanders from one side to the other – but he’s never been out on the lead before being at the Ark so there’s a lot of investigating for him to do now! Sam is not used to travelling in cars and shakes with fright, bless him.

What lovely markings!

Sam was used to his previous owner being around most of the time. He doesn’t seem as though he will be too bothered about being left, but he might be, in which case his new owner would need to gradually build up that amount of time that he was left alone.

Sam is a sweet boy who will make a really lovely companion for someone.
