16/3/2010 Nellie wasn’t waiting long – she’s already gone off to her new home.

Poor little Nellie had been dumped in someone’s garden along with a pile of rubbish. She was rescued in Ireland, but is now in the care of Furry Friends Animal Rescue in Surrey.

Nellie is a Jack Russell Terrier and she’s about 14 years old. She was born blind in her left eye and has a condition in her right eye, known as Dry Eye. This has caused a lot of swelling and must have been quite painful for poor Nellie before she was rescued. She needs eye drops for this condition and will be on them for life. (They currently costs £6 per tube, but last for two months)

Whilst at the vets, Nellie also had a dental so she must be feeling a lot better. All she needs now is a loving home for her twilight years. She’s a very easy little dog and she gets on with cats and small animals and is happy to be with other calm dogs like herself.

Nellie is quiet and always very affectionate with people, but due to her age she will need somewhere without young children and bouncy dogs. She still enjoys going for short walks, but couldn’t cope with anything too strenuous.

Because Nellie is getting on in years she can’t hold her bladder as well as a younger dog. She’ll therefore need a home with someone who is around during the day to give her regular access to the garden. She’ll make a perfect companion for a retired person or couple.

Nellie is spayed, microchipped and will have the first of her vaccinations before being rehomed.
