Arthur has been with South Yorkshire English Springer Spaniel Rescue, in Sheffield, since September 2008; so that’s almost 2 years. He’s about 9 years old now and he’s quite a character and likes to play.

Arthur is finding it hard to find a new home because he needs an adult-only home where he is the only pet, and he can never be let off the lead as he is a hunter and really doesn’t like other animals. SYESSR say that his ideal home would be one in the countryside where he has a large, secure garden to play in and an owner who is happy to walk him on a lead and play with him in the house and garden. And of course, there can’t be any dogs, cats, rabbits, chickens, etc. etc. in his new home.

There must be a suitable home out there though! If you have the right type of home, love Springers, and are an experienced owner, please read on as you might just be the special person that Arthur’s been waiting for all this time.

Arthur is a very handsome and fit dog. He is microchipped, vaccinated and neutered. He arrived in rescue due to a divorce and not a lot is known about his background. He is fine with people but he is quite focussed on scents when out on a walk and doesn’t respond to visitors as much as some other Springers, so he gets overlooked at the rescue. SYESSR think that in a home environment it is likely that Arthur could be very different as he is quite playful when inside.

Arthur just needs someone who will accept him for what he is and give him a chance. Note that Arthur isn’t aggressive with children, but he can’t be rehomed with children due to his aggression with animals.

Let’s hope that next time we have snow, Arthur will be snuggled up in a cosy new home, not still languishing in kennels.
