Khan (The Ark Animal Rescue, Lincolnshire coast)
14/10/11 Khan has gone home!
—————–
Handsome Khan came into the care of The Ark rescue with his friend Cassie when their owner moved to pet-free accommodation. Originally The Ark wanted to find Khan and Cassie a home together, although they knew it was going to be difficult, being fairly large, elderly dogs. Over their weeks in rescue Khan became quite proprietorial over Cassie and their kennel, so when someone fell for Cassie The Ark made the decision to rehome her separately. Apart from a few days of wondering where Cassie was, Khan has settled. He seems much happier and calmer and he’s no longer as territorial over his kennel as before. Typical of a GSD, he’ll still bark at passers by, but is fine once you’re in his kennel.
As you can see from his photo, Khan is a very handsome German Shepherd. He’s 10 years old and is neutered and in good health.
Khan is generally a laid back dog, but he can be a little boisterous at times and is occasionally grumpy with some men. On the whole he’s a friendly boy and was always very good with the children he lived with in the past. He has lived with other dogs before and mixes well with them when out and about. His cat status isn’t known.
Khan is house-trained and can safely be left for a reasonable time. He is used to sleeping on a quilt in the spare room and he travels well. He tends to pull on the lead at first, but will settle and walk well after about 5 minutes. Off lead, he likes to have a run his recall isn’t great so needs some working on. He likes toys, especially balls and ropes and is just looking forward to having some of his own when he finds a new home.
