11.5.13  Second time lucky!   Sam has now found his ideal new home.

Update 1/4/13 – Sam thought he found a home, but sadly, it didn’t work out and he has been returned to the Ark through no fault of his own. Please read about this little cutie and see if he is the right dog for you.

Sam is a 13 year old Border Terrier x Jack Russell Terrier who is being rehomed by the Ark on the Lincolnshire coast. He originally came into their care due to a relationship breakdown and he later found a new home. Sadly, he’s had to be returned because his new owner is allergic to him. Sam has been well cared for, as you can see from his photos, but he must feel sad to be back in rescue again.

Sam is an active and friendly lad but he can bark a bit when anxious. His perfect home would be with an older person or couple where he can have a quiet, gentle life. He should be fine to have older children visiting now and then, but he wouldn’t tolerate living with children.

Sam isn’t keen on dogs or cats so he needs to be the only pet in his new home. Sam dislikes loud noises, bikes and ladders and doesn’t like raised voices.

He’s a busy little lad, a typical terrier. He’s house-trained, is used to being left 3-4 hours and he slept in the kitchen. He’s travel sick so needs local walks. He pulls a little on the lead and his recall is only good in a safe area and where there are no distractions. His favourite toys are a ball and a teddy.

Sam is neutered and vaccinated with a booster due in April 2013. Sam has been found to have a grade 3-4 heart murmur. He’s had a complete blood screen to check he has no other problems and the results came back fine.

Sam would be best in a quiet, terrier-savvy home where occasional grumpiness is well tolerated.
