This beautiful lady is Millie and she’s a 10 and ½ year old German Shorthair Pointer, who is looking for a new home to spend her golden years with the help of the GSP Rescue Service.
Millie likes to sleep in her bed by the sofa when the family is having TV time and in the bedroom at night. She will sit, lie down, walk at heel off lead, walk from the front door to the car off lead at heel and is recalling to 3 peeps on a 211 whistle within 2-5 minutes if she is one field’s distance away and smelling rabbits, which is good.
Millie is good with children, horses and other dogs, but doesn’t like dogs/people ’stealing her food’ whilst she is eating out of her own bowl. Due to her age, she is on incontinence medication called Caniphedrin and has 3 tablets per week, normally every other day. She just dribbles a few drops of urine when she is asleep, but is otherwise 100% house clean. She will bark by the door if she needs to be let out, but this is very rare and is a different distinctive bark to her usual bark.
Millie has an up-to-date vaccination history, passport and has travelled the world. She travels extremely well and can cope with long 3 hour hikes still on her flexi lead up and down steep hills and go beating all day. She is let out every 2-3 hours by a dog walker or a neighbour if she is being left all day which eases the strain on her bladder, and stress-induced separation anxiety is prevented with the radio on. She is happy in boarding kennels for 2-3 nights max.
Millie was previously an escape artist and her previous owners used an electric perimeter fence. Her current owners have set up a safe area for her which she is used to. It is 15′ square and has 6′ trellis coated in chicken wire; something similar, or an escape-proof garden, is a requirement.
