28/8/2012 Lucy has found her new home and is settling well.

Lucy is a smallish 8 year old Crossbreed (about 14″ to the shoulder, with a long body), born 12/03/04, who was recently rehomed by the Ark with her sister Maisie. Sadly, Lucy is back at the Ark, on the Lincolnshire coast, and needs to find a new home. She is a very sensitive little soul with many fears.

Lucy and Maisie’s original owner had senile dementia and was unable to care for them and sadly forgot to feed them; they arrived at the Ark very underweight and had obviously gone through a harrowing time. They found a new home together but Lucy has proved to be far too nervous to live with children and will snap at them, so she must have a child-free home. She also needs to be the only pet in the home as in her recent home she hasn’t been good with cats, rabbits or dogs.

Lucy is friendly when she knows people but is a terribly fearful girl due to past experiences. She is good at the vets, is housetrained, and can safely be left for about 4 hours. She has been sleeping in her own bed in her owner’s room. She travels well.

She is an escape artist, especially when frightened. In particular, Lucy doesn’t like to be shut out in the garden and if she is shut out she will do all she can to try to escape. She’s good on the lead and is best kept on lead as her recall is poor.

Lucy is neutered and vaccinated. She has a slight heart murmur but isn’t on medication. She was very underweight when she was at the Ark previously but she has been carefully nourished to gain weight. She is otherwise fit and well.

Lucy needs a quiet home, definitely without children or other pets, and with a calm owner who will be firm but sensitive and provide a safe haven to protect Lucy from her fears. Is your home the right one for Lucy?
