The girl with the adorable eyes is Ava, a 10 year old retriever cross who is currently being taken care of by West Yorkshire Dog Rescue.   She’s looking for a quiet retirement home where she can settle down and feel settled.

Ava will be an adorable companion.   She’s a smallish retriever cross (about knee height at the shoulder) who has a very kind gentle nature.  She loves everyone and everything.    She’d be happiest in a loving home with someone around most of the time and where she can have a few short walks a day.   Ideally  she would suit a retired or partially disabled person who wants a dog but can’t walk too far.      She would appreciate a garden and could live with another doggy friend.   Ava is also cat and child friendly.

She is a bit overweight and a little arthritic.  Her legs are a bit stiff when she first gets up but this is easily treated with Metacam at a cost of around 30p a day.    Ava has been wormed, flea treated, microchipped and vaccinated.  She has also been spayed.

If you’d like to know more about Ava, please visit West Yorkshire Dog Rescue’s website and complete one of their online enquiry forms or

Please mention that you saw her on the Oldies Club website.
