12/8/12 Mr Po has gone to his new home!
Mr Po originates from Belgium and he is a 13 year old Yorkie X boy. He came into Oldies Club care because his owners were leaving the UK to care for a relative. Mr Po is in an Oldies Club foster home in Newdigate, Surrey, waiting for someone to offer him a permanent home.
Well behaved at his foster home: Mr Po settled at his foster home within a couple of days and he is happy to be left for up to 4 or 5 hours. He could live with full-time workers, provided someone could visit to take him for a walk halfway through the day.
Good with dogs: Mr Po is great with other dogs.
Used to live with cats: There are no cats at his foster home, but Mr Po used to live with cats and was said to be fine with them. We were told that he will chase cats outside the home, in play, but will stop when told No.
Good with older children: Mr Po hasn’t met children whilst in foster care, but his previous owners told us that he was fine with older children and that he enjoyed being with teenagers.
Energetic on walks: Mr Po is an energetic lad and on walks he likes to rush ahead and be in front. He knows Belgian commands but will also come back to you if you clap your hands, or whistle. He is very fast for his age and size. He currently has two walks per day and is happy to walk for over an hour.
Good in the car: Mr Po loves looking out as he travels.
Mr Po’s favourite pastimes: Walks and cuddles.
Mr Po’s dislikes: Thunder and fireworks. If you try to move him by pulling his collar he will growl.
Mr Po’s perfect home: He would love to live with people who enjoy walking.
Health notes: Mr Po is neutered, vaccinated and microchipped. He will have his vet check this week and will be wormed and flea-treated before rehoming.
Foster carer’s summary of Mr Po: “He’s affectionate, lively and a real sweety. He really is lovely. The first day here he looked miserable and was looking at the door. I gave him rescue remedy and a homeopathic remedy and the next day he was much brighter. In the garden, he loves pottering around a sniffing and looks very happy.”
If you can offer Mr Po a permanent home, please refer to our Adoption Procedures for information about the adoption process. You can then contact an Oldies Club rehoming co-ordinator as follows:
Telephone: 0844 586 8656
Mr Po can be rehomed anywhere in the UK, subject to a satisfactory home visit, but note that you will be required to travel to the foster home to meet him.
If you would love to offer a home to an oldie but your circumstances aren’t suitable, perhaps you would be kind enough to sponsor one of the special oldies we are caring for that, due to health problems, are unlikely to be offered a permanent home.Tags: Active Oldie, Calmer and Quieter, Good with cats, Good with kids, Good with other dogs, Small and Cute, South East, Terrier
