Cavalier King Charlie (Oldies Club, fostered Kent)

11/11/12 Little Charlie has gone to his new home!

————-

Sweet little Charlie is a 12 year old Cavalier King Charles Spaniel who came into Oldies Club care after his owner moved to rented accommodation where dogs weren’t allowed. Charlie is in an Oldies Club foster home in Walderslade, Kent, waiting for someone to offer him a permanent home.

Well-behaved in his foster home: Charlie is a quiet boy around the home and he settled in foster within the first week.

Can be left but enjoys company: Charlie is fine to be left for a few hours but he does love to be with you, having cuddles. He likes to know where his foster carer is and follows him around.

Good with dogs: Charlie used to live with 3 other Cavaliers. He should be fine to live with calm, gentle dogs. He also has no problems when meeting dogs outside the home.

Needs a cat-free home: Charlie doesn’t like cats. Pah!

OK with children: Charlie is fine with children but he obviously wouldn’t want to be pulled around. He should be OK with children aged over 7, but he would probably prefer a quieter home.

Lively on walks: Charlie comes to life on walks and can be quite strong on the lead. He pulls to sniff at interesting things. He needs to stay on the lead because he is totally deaf. He enjoys walks of about 30-40 minutes, twice a day.

Enjoys car travel: Charlie is good in the car and he enjoys the view.

Charlie’s favourite pastimes: Walking and enjoying being out and about.

Charlie’s dislikes: Sudden awakening, or being crept up on from behind. This will startle him as he is deaf.

Charlie’s perfect home: He would be best suited to people that are home a lot, so that he can enjoy cuddles on the sofa, and where he will be taken for good walks and nice trips out in the car. He would enjoy having a fair sized garden to potter in, and not too many steps to negotiate.

Health notes: Charlie is neutered, vaccinated, microchipped, wormed and flea-treated. He has also had a dental since coming into Oldies Club care. The vet was happy with Charlie’s condition and he isn’t on any medication. Charlie is deaf.

Foster carer’s summary of Charlie:Loving, Quiet, Loyal, Fun. Despite his deafness, Charlie is great company and will respond to some hand signals. He very quickly picks up on habits and routines. He will respond in kindness when shown care and attention.”

If you can offer Charlie a permanent home, please refer to our Adoption Procedures for information about the adoption process. You can then contact an Oldies Club rehoming co-ordinator as follows:

Email: rehome@oldies.org.uk
Telephone: 0844 586 8656

Charlie can be rehomed anywhere in the UK, subject to a satisfactory home visit, but note that you will be required to travel to the foster home to meet him.

If you would love to offer a home to an oldie but your circumstances aren’t suitable, perhaps you would be kind enough to sponsor one of the special oldies we are caring for that, due to health problems, are unlikely to be offered a permanent home.
