3/5/13 Pickle has found a home, and we’ve heard from his new owners who are absolutely delighted with him.
Please say hello to Pickle. He is a rather handsome 9 year old Whippet cross boy who stands at 21 inches to the shoulder. Pickle is still in his current home and has been there since he was 5 months old, having been loved and well cared for. He is looking for a new home with the help of Hounds First Sighthound Rescue in Cambridgeshire.
Pickle is calm and gentle with all people. He is easy in the house with no sign of aggression. Several years ago he easily passed the assessment to be a PAT dog and has regularly accompanied his owner to work where he spends time with, and is taken for walks by, troubled teenagers who find his quiet presence and soulful eyes calming. He does not like too much noise and bustle and will tend to take himself off.
Pickle needs a quiet home where his owners will be there for the majority of the time. He can live with children and is fine with other dogs but does get worried when meeting strange dogs and can bark upon meeting. He is not cat friendly.
His current owner says: “Pickle sleeps a lot in the house waking from time to time to come and say hello and be stroked, scratched, given some attention before curling up to sleep again. He has always had regular exercise and is fit.
He started life in a travellers camp where I think he ran fairly wild. I got him at approximately 5 months and it took quite some persistent work and training on my part for him to come back to me and stop charging around following whichever dog he was interested in.
He has always shown high prey drive and is not good with cats or small animals. Since he was bitten by a staffie he has been nervous of them and can show signs of fear when meeting other dogs.”
Pickle has no known medical needs and has been neutered.
