28/5/13 Ernie has found a home!

————

Please meet Ernie and read his story. He’s had a rough start in life and deserves to be in a loving, permanent home.

Ernie is a 5 year old, male, lemon and white, working Cocker Spaniel. He is currently in a foster home in Somerset where he will stay until his forever home is found by Working Cocker Spaniel Rescue.

Ernie suffers from a condition called dry-eye, where his eyes do not produce any tears. This means he has very little vision in either eye.

Ernie also has a very sad habit of circling. It’s believed that this is learnt behaviour due to both his eye problems and the fact he was crated for much of the time before coming into rescue. His circling does get better when he’s tired after a walk and he does sleep well in his crate overnight. Sadly, his spinning can mean he may urinate in the house, so he needs someone patient and understanding. He will also need someone who is at home a lot as his eye medication needs doing at least 3 times a day!

Ernie has previously lived with other dogs and does rely on them heavily, so the rescue will be looking for a home with a calm dog who is steady when out on a walk as he will follow dogs for reassurance. He still loves walks, so will need an energetic home

Ernie is fine with children but will need to be with older children because of his medical problems. He can also live with cats. Ernie is going to need a very tolerant and sympathetic owner as he is a very special boy.

Ernie has been neutered.

Can you offer Ernie his permanent home?

Rescue’s Rehoming Policy: We are happy to rehome anywhere in the UK but the new owner must be prepared to travel to Somerset at least once to meet the dog. All of our dogs are neutered, vaccinated, chipped, wormed and flea treated and come with 4 weeks free insurance when they leave. We carry out pre- and post-home visits.
