Benson (Dunroamin K9 Rescue, fostered South Yorkshire)

24/7/13 Benson has found a lovely new home at last!

Meet Benson the Labrador! This gorgeous boy is thought to be around 7 years old and sadly found himself alone and unclaimed in the dog pound before coming to Dunroamin K9 Rescue. Sadly, it appears that he may have been abandoned because he is blind.

After a trip to the vet, it was confirmed that Benson has cataracts, which the vet believes are a genetic condition. Apart from not being able to see, Benson is in very good health and he copes very well with his condition. He has moved into a foster home and it only took him a few hours to learn how to navigate around his temporary home.

Benson is being a really good boy in his foster home. He is housetrained and is fine to be left alone for a few hours per day without becoming destructive. He is dog friendly and, in fact, he loves the company of other dogs. It is unknown how he would react to cats though.

Benson is a very affectionate boy and he adores being around people. When his foster mum comes home from work, he greets her with a little dance. He is a bouncy boy who enjoys interacting and playing with people, but he doesn’t play with toys. He walks well on the lead, but can pull a little bit as his nose is always to the ground sniffing.

Benson’s foster mum is completely smitten with him and if it wasn’t for her resident old Labrador girl not taking kindly to having to share her home, then he would have already found his forever home, but unfortunately it is not to be.
