Danny (National Animal Welfare Trust, Berkshire)

28/2/13 Danny has found a new home with his best friend Bess. :)

This sweet older gentleman is Danny and he would like to introduce himself!

‘Hello, my name is Danny and I am a 12 year old Labrador cross boy looking for a new home as my owner sadly passed away. I arrived at the National Animal Welfare Trust with my friend Bess.

I am used to being in a very loving environment and I am very sad to find myself here. I spend some of my day howling to let everyone know just how sad I am. I don’t think I’ll do this in my new home because I won’t need to, but I would prefer someone to be at home most of the time as I am used to having company in the day.

I’m a very caring boy and like nothing more than to curl up on the sofa next to you and sleep. I also enjoy being groomed as this helps me to doze off.

Danny with Bess

I am deaf but I respond well to hand signals, although my trick repertoire is not huge unless you include cuddling! I do walk nicely on the lead and prefer to plod along at my own pace. At the moment I am building up my fitness as I am overweight and out of shape. I will never be a distance walker again, but a nice walk once or twice a day will suit me fine.

I have lived with a variety of animals including another dog, cats and birds. I am happy to share my home with all of these again although the kind people who brought me to Trindledown did say I sometimes chase Tabby cats.

I am also very gentle with children but I would prefer a quiet home where children are older. I would be fine with visiting young children as long as I could take myself off for quiet time as at my age I do like my peace.

Do you have room for me?’
