Monkey (Freshfields Animal Rescue, Liverpool)

31/1/13 Monkey has found his forever home! :)

Please say hello to Monkey! Monkey is an eight year old Staffordshire Bull Terrier and he has all the charm and character typical of his breed. He’s currently in the care of Freshfields Animal Rescue in Liverpool where he’s been waiting for a new home for some time.

Monkey first arrived in rescue in Sept 2012 after being taken to the vets to be put to sleep, just because he had fleas. Luckily the vet refused and Freshfields stepped in to help, offering Monkey a place in their rescue kennels. Monkey was at least safe, but because he didn’t cope very well with the kennel environment the rescue moved him into their staff room. He has settled better there and the staff say he has been nothing but a delight! He’s very clean, not destructive and is so friendly with everyone who walks through the door – all he wants is a fuss and a snooze.

Monkey is a typical Staffie – he’s happy, full of enthusiasm and makes all the delightful Staffie noises! He’s a perfect gentleman with everyone, loves fuss and has completely charmed all the staff with his wonderfully sweet nature. If he’s not snuggling up to you for a cuddle, then he’s proudly parading around with his best toy! He’s always eager to please and loves to give kisses or roll on his back for a tummy rub.

Monkey is an active boy and he loves his walks and playtime. He’s fantastic out on walks and despite being overjoyed when he sees his lead he doesn’t pull at all!

Monkey is still a little insecure at the moment and likes to be close to you, but who can blame him – he spent eight years being someone’s loyal friend only to be cast aside. Freshfields feel that Monkey would settle better in a home with someone who is around for most of the day, and where he can have plenty of reassurance. He deserves to have a secure retirement with someone who will be there for him.

Monkey’s status with cats and young children isn’t known, so he’s looking for somewhere cat-free and where any children are older and sensible. Monkey would also like a home where he can be the only dog, although he’s fine with other dogs when he’s out on walks.

Monkey is neutered and fully vaccinated. Please don’t overlook this lovely old chap, he is absolutely fantastic!
