Jen (Adopt A Dog North East, Durham)

20/11/16 – Jen has found a wonderful new home. She was spotted on the Oldies Club website after being featured as our Old Dog of the Week. We’re so pleased for this special girl!

Huggable Jen is a sweet natured 10 year old Rottie in the care of Adopt A Dog North East in Durham. Inexplicably, she’s been waiting to find her forever home for over a year! Luckily she’s been having a fun time in foster so it hasn’t been a hardship. Her foster carers love her very much but they know she’d be happier as an only pet so she can have all the attention and love for herself. At the moment she’s patiently sharing it with 7 other dogs. She’s such a well mannered girl!

Jen can be left alone for a reasonable time and will just settle in her big comfy bed for a snooze. She loves travelling in the car. Her ideal home would probably be with an active retired person or couple, maybe with visiting Grandchildren. But she’s open to all offers. A love of large breeds would be preferred, no cats please and lots of snuggle time is essential!

Jen would be happy to share her home with young children, as she has done before. She’s seeking a new home through absolutely no fault of her own. The rescue want to rehome her within about 50 miles of Durham. Easy-going and well brought up, Jen spent the first 9 years of her life in a loving family. This means she was properly socialised as a puppy and had a stable, happy life, so she doesn’t have any unfortunate behaviours to contend with. In fact, she’s angelic. In a very solid, cuddly sort of way!

She adores people and bonds very strongly, making her a wonderfully loving companion. She loves actual hugs! Typical of Rotties she will also lean in heavily to have her sides scratched. She can take any amount of fuss, of any kind, being the big soppy girl she is!

This picture was made by her foster carers to show how lovable she is!

Her love of humans means that the only guarding behaviour she shows is alerting you to the sound of someone approaching the house. As soon as she can see it’s a person (and therefore a friend) she’ll go up and greet them nicely.

She walks beautifully in her Halti, keeping pace with no pulling. She still has plenty of energy and stamina so she’ll happily walk as far as you want. Off lead she has good recall. She’s always a very biddable girl!

She can be choosy about which other dogs she takes to. On walks she will just avoid unknown dogs to be on the safe side. Being self-assured and trusting her human she would never initiate any aggro. With dogs she likes (e.g. her foster siblings) her playful side is a joy to watch!

Her foster carer says, “Any large breed or Rottie owner would adore this girl. She would suit an active home still capable of walking a large dog. A home that seeks a biddable and loving companion dog.”

She’s spayed, fully vaccinated, microchipped, worm/flea treated and in excellent health. If you want to find out more about this loving girl and see if you’re worthy of her please contact Adopt A Dog North East as follows:
