25/1/18 – Zoli is now reserved!
Zoli (to rhyme with jolly) is a stunningly handsome Vizsla boy of 7 years. He’s in foster care in North Ayrshire, Scotland through Hungarian Vizsla Welfare Charity. Note that HVWC don’t usually advertise their dogs on their website because Vizslas are so popular, there’s a waiting list of humans! Therefore you might not see Zoli on there, but he is available.
He needs an adult only home, maybe with another dog (preferably a well-adjusted adult dog of a similar size) but no cats please and no visiting children. A tranquil retirement is what he needs. He also needs an experienced dog owner because he’s extremely bright and ever so good… as long as he knows how to be!
Zoli needs a calm and consistent owner. If you know Vizslas, you’ll know how clever and lively they can be. Zoli is happy when he knows what the routine is and what’s expected of him. HVWC will only let him be adopted by someone who is naturally relaxed and confident, as this is what he responds to best. He also responds with intense concentration and unwavering virtue whenever a treat is in view!
Zoli is a friendly lad with a very waggy tail when his people return home. He can be left alone for short periods but he wouldn’t like it to be for long. He loves company but is not at all needy for affection. He’d rather you just got on with your human things with him nearby than wanted his attention and approval all the time. He does like to know you’re there though!
Zoli gets very excited about food. Food is his main love in life. This, combined with his quick wit, make him highly trainable. He knows basic commands – he will come, sit and give a paw. Off lead he has good recall. He would love to have an owner who will take the time to train him a bit more, partly for the bonding benefits… but mainly for the treats!
Zoli is neutered, fit and healthy. He’s house trained and will whine to go out in the garden when he needs to. In the car, he can be noisy but this could certainly be worked on. He loves getting out and about, especially for a swim and will gladly retrieve tennis balls from the water for you. He also likes long walks in the countryside, then sleeping in front of the fire. He will be a wonderfully, loyal companion. Just happy that you’re his best friend.
