Archie is an 11-year-old West Highland Terrier who is being rehomed privately by his owners as they can no longer give Archie the time he deserves. They would love him to find a home where he will have more company as he is currently spending a lot of his time on his own. Archie is in Houghton Le Spring, Tyne and Wear and, ideally, Archie’s owners would like to rehome him within the Tyne & Wear or Durham area.
Archie is looking for a quiet home where he will be someone’s adored companion, but his new someone will need to be able to take him out for good walks as he is still fit and active and needs plenty of exercise. Archie would be best as an only pet as he has never lived with other dogs and tends to avoid them. He would probably chase cats, and, although he has lived with older children, now that he’s getting on in years Archie would be best in a home without resident children. He would be happy to have kind, well-trained grandchildren visit and tell him how handsome he is, though.
Cute Archie is fine to be left on his own for a few hours while you pop out to the shops and so on, but he is spending too long on his own at the moment and is seeking a home where his people are home a lot of the time. He would be very happy to go for outings with you as he loves a ride out in the car.
Archie needs active owners as he loves his walks and is still a fit and active dog. He currently goes for at least one walk per day, with longer walks at the weekends. Archie will also need a nice, dog-friendly garden at his new home as he loves being outdoors.
Adorable Archie loves to be around people. He is a wonderful dog who will make such a good friend for his new owner(s). He is frightened of fireworks, which make him quite stressed, and he dislikes the whistles during football matches on TV!
His current owners tell us that Archie only has one health issue and that is IBS, caused by stress. It flares up occasionally if he has been stressed and only lasts for a day or two. He doesn’t take any medication.
Archie is being privately rehomed by his current owner, Kevin, who has confirmed that he would take Archie back if the new home didn’t work out for any reason. Prospective adopters will be homechecked.

Please mention that you saw Archie listed as a private rehoming on the Oldies Club website.
Oldies Club suggests you read our article Questions for Adopters which is written to help people who are planning to adopt a dog from a private owner rather than a rescue.
