Big softy Jethro is a 7 year old Mastiff cross in the care of Rescue Remedies at their kennels in Guildford, Surrey. He could live with another dog, preferably female, and is good with children.
Jethro is, frankly, ridiculously soppy! He will stop for fuss and cuddles, being completely absorbed for as long as the love is there.
Jethro is bright, full of fun and very responsive, making him easy to train. He’s strong on the lead at first but has been learning to walk with slack on the lead, after his initial enthusiasm of being free from his kennel.
Jethro settles nicely when walking with other dogs, meeting other dogs politely too. His walks are about sniffing, seeing and cuddles whenever there is a rest moment.
One volunteer walker said, “He was a breeze to harness and I thought he would be quite a hard walk but I was pleasantly surprised. He is not as big as I thought he was and although strong he was still within my capability.
“The rain really came down on our walk and Jethro didn’t look too impressed but just kept walking. By this time he was pulling much less on the lead and was a lovely companion.
“I towelled him off in the kennel and then held my arms out for a cuddle. Jethro sat on my lap straight away and we did not move for at least half an hour. He loves cuddles and is so gentle that I just couldn’t leave him. What an amazing boy!”
When Jethro met a girl in a wheelchair, he didn’t need telling to be gentle. Rather than jumping up to greet her, he just stood still close to her to be stroked. Such a gentleman!
