Balto (Love Underdogs, Essex)

Who could resist that cheeky face? Handsome and he knows it, Balto is a big 10-year-old teddy bear who is at Love Underdogs in Waltham Abbey, Essex.

Balto spent 3 years in a shelter in Romania before coming to the UK with Love Underdogs. He then had a nice time in a family, but he is back in rescue due to reactivity to other dogs on walks.

Balto is currently in training and his behaviour around other dogs has progressed well. He feels insecure around larger dogs at times, and has on occasion redirected onto his handler. Balto’s behaviour seems to be completely linked to the handler’s confidence, as he never reacts when he is in the hands of experienced team members. He does go on walks with dogs but Love Underdogs think that he would be happier in a home as the only dog.

With people, Balto is absolutely wonderful. He has such a lot of love to give, is a real character, and is always smiling, as you can see from the photos. He is an older boy who really deserves to find his path, and he will return your love tenfold. Balto enjoys adventures and he loves a car ride. He travels beautifully, so if you are someone wanting to take your dog on car trips, he’s a great candidate. He will get into any open car on the car park!

He is a real character and is absolutely wonderful with a lot of affection to give. Balto is house trained and used to all things domestic. It is also worth noting that Love Underdogs dogs, being from a stock of survivors, tend to live a long time, so don’t be put off by the number of birthdays he has had.

Balto is looking for an adult-only home as your only pet, since he prefers to be number one. His people will need to continue with his training, safe in the knowledge that he is a very capable boy and his progress has been very encouraging and rewarding for the team. Love Underdogs offer support to adopters for the lifetime of the dog and they will give you details of Balto’s training plan.

Balto is just a cuddly teddy bear with a passion for car rides, forest walks and quiet evenings watching TV with his people. Could you offer him his ideal home?

All Love Underdogs’ dogs are rehomed with a home trial for 2 weeks before a formal adoption. Love Underdogs offer behaviourist support for the lifetime of the dog.
