Suki (Freshfields Animal Rescue, Liverpool)

Please help Suki by sharing this page!

Gorgeous girl Suki is an 8 or 9 year old Akita who’s been waiting far too long for her perfect human to find her! She’s with Freshfields Animal Rescue in Liverpool where she has her own room. It’s no substitute for a proper home though!

Suki is looking for an adult-only home as an only pet. She finds other dogs a worry and needs to have her walkies in quiet, preferably countryside places. She’s a big, strong girl but a joy to walk as long as she doesn’t meet other dogs.

When Suki’s got to know you, she’s affectionate and playful. Her favourite volunteer dog walkers are greeted by her jumping up for a cuddle!

Suki is a typical Akita, in that she takes a while to trust people. They were bred to quietly guard nobility after all and are experts at inscrutable aloofness! Potential adopters will need to make a few visits to get to know Suki so please bear your location in mind. She needs a settled home with not many comings and goings, especially of strangers. She wants to spend most of her time relaxing in style!

Like most Akitas, Suki knows her own mind and can be, frankly, stubborn. Someone with experience of the breed or a similar spitz breed would be good because you can’t out-stubborn an Akita. They don’t respond to harshness. It’s all about trust and positive interaction. Life is meant to be full of love and fun!

Suki will make a wonderful companion to the right person. She will fill your home with happiness, given the right conditions. One of the most funniest sights you could see is Suki rolling around in the snow for the sheer joy of being alive!
