15/3/20 – Suki still needs a home
Please help Suki by sharing this page!
Suki is a stunningly gorgeous Akita girl of 9 years, in the care of Freshfields Animal Rescue in Liverpool. She needs calm, experienced owners and an adult only home as an only pet. She offers affection, loyalty and coquettish silliness in return!
Suki loves her people and she loves going out for walkies, no matter how cold it is! Rolling in snow is just about her favourite activity. Typical of her breed, she is reserved with new people. She’s also not a fan of other dogs and needs to be walked in quiet areas, so as not to have to worry about them. When that condition is met, she’s very good on the lead and a joy to take out. She does need owners who can control her, calmly, if an unexpected dog approaches.
If you’re used to Spitz breeds of any type, you’ll appreciate the kind of lifestyle they like (relaxed and without many comings and goings) as well as how loyal and loving they can be. See side note below. Forming a strong bond is very important to Suki!
It does, however, take time to build this special bond and therefore anyone interested in adopting Suki will need to make several trips to and from the rescue in order to get to know her. This will progress into a slow introduction into the home so please bear your location in mind when enquiring about her.
Once Suki has formed a bond with you and trusts you, she acts like a big, silly puppy and does not hesitate to display all of her love and affection! When she greets her favourite dog walkers at the rescue, she excitedly whines and throws her paws at them for a big cuddle.
Freshfields say, “Sadly we do not have any previous history about Suki due to the circumstances she arrived with us, however we feel that we have gotten to know and understand her well during her time with us. We feel that she will be happy to be left alone for a few hours in her new home and is extremely clean in her kennel here. She is such a beautiful girl and will make such a fabulous friend for an experienced owner. We desperately hope that the right person can offer her the home she deserves and give her that chance she needs.”
If you might be the person Suki’s been waiting for, please contact Freshfields Animal Rescue as follows:

Please say you saw Suki on the Oldies Club website.
Side note: An Akita made world famous for loyalty to his owner has a statue in his honour. Hachiko, of Japan, spent 9 years after his owner had died, doing a daily vigil to what would have been his owner’s commute to work. Just in case he came back!
