Axel & Lexi (Friends of Akitas, kennelled Notts.)

Axel on the left and Lexi on the right

Axel (male long-coated) and Lexi (female short-coated) are 7 years old and are at Friends of Akitas Trust UK kennels in Nottinghamshire. They were originally rehomed by Friends of Akitas, to a lovely home, but sadly their owner’s ill health has forced the difficult decision of rehoming.

Axel and Lexi are such lovely dogs. They need a home where they can stay together as they are very bonded and are protective of one another. They do not accept other dogs easily and need to be the only pets in the home.

Although they are used to having grandchildren visit, they have not lived with a child and have had limited exposure to children outside of the home. They therefore need a quieter, adult only home or a home with children over the age of 12 years.

Lexi and Axel know their basic commands such as sit and give paw. They are used to being left for shorter periods and they are not destructive in the home. Axel travels well in the car; Lexi can sometimes suffer with a little bit of travel sickness but not always.

Both dogs do play with toys but they usually prefer to interact and play with each other. Axel likes lots of cuddles, kisses and back rubs, and although Lexi likes some of the same, she is far more dignified about it!
