Betty (Rescue Remedies, West Sussex)

Pretty Betty is a 9 year old Staffy who is with Rescue Remedies, in boarding kennels near Gatwick, West Sussex. She has greatly impressed the volunteers with her friendly nature.

This lovely lady was originally rescued when she was around 9 months old. She accommodated a Cavalier pup joining her family 4 years ago, and more recently a baby. Betty can be protective though and she became stressed as the baby developed, which resulted in a set-to with the other dog as the family were packing to go on holiday. The other dog suffered a couple of puncture wounds but Betty has sadly lost her home.

Betty walks very well on a lead, ignoring other dogs as long as they do not approach too closely. She wears a muzzle on walks as she might try to grab a dog that invades her space. Betty is looking for a child-free home, as your only dog, and with people who understand her protective instincts.

A Rescue Remedies volunteer said: “Betty was on top form today. Always a friendly greeting in her kennel for me. Absolutely well behaved on our walk, she ignored other dogs and let horses pass quietly. Betty is a fairly sedate walk, even when some squirrels were scampering around. After our walk, I took Betty to the paddock for some muzzle-free play. We had some lovely cuddles and good natured play. Beautiful Betty, you are a gem, even if you are a bit cheeky.”

Another volunteer said: ”As always, another lovely walk with Betty yesterday. She always greets you with her gorgeous little bum wiggle as you approach her kennel, then is so patient as you get her harness, muzzle and leads on. She is a PLEASURE to walk. Slack lead, never pulls. Then we finished off with a little run around and cuddle in the paddock. I have said it before and I will say it again. We love Betty. To us she is the perfect dog, and ALWAYS our easiest walk of the day.

Could you offer wonderful, loyal and loving Betty an experienced, child-free home as your only pet?

Note: Rescue Remedies have specific on-lead requirements for their adopted dogs. They also cannot guarantee to reply to unsuccessful homing applications.
