Jay is an affectionate West Highland Terrier of 9 years who’s getting some TLC in a foster home in Macclesfield through RSPCA Macclesfield, SE Cheshire & Buxton. His elderly owners were no longer able to care for him and he needs a very particular type of home.
Firstly, he needs a home with hard floors as the dust mites which live in even the cleanest of carpets are very bothersome to his skin. He is almost completely bald due to allergies he’s had his whole life that are common to his breed. He needs a cream massaged into his skin every day which he really enjoys! He eats Tails grain-free fish dog food which he loves and is best for his skin and allergies. He also needs eye drops for dry eye. He’s very much a hands-on dog. Luckily he likes the attention!
He’s not just a bundle of conditions though, he’s a real character. He has the typical Westie outlook on life and will assert his views accordingly. He absolutely must be the centre of attention so he needs to be your only pet and can only live with older, sensible children, if any. If he thinks you’re not suitably attentive he will let you know. When you’re on the phone, he will chime in just to make sure you haven’t forgotten about him. He does also have a timid side and he loves fuss, being the soppiest boy imaginable!
He does sometimes have accidents but his foster carers have found this has greatly improved with regular visits to the garden and, of course, plenty of walkies. He is neutered, vaccinated and microchipped. He will sometimes need steroids for the allergies and occasional antibiotics. He seems to be partially sighted. Lastly, knitwear. He needs plenty of natty jumpers too!
