Mike (Dogs Trust Newbury, Berkshire)

Ever-such-a-good-boy Mike is a 10 year old Staffy cross who has been charming staff and volunteers at Dogs Trust Newbury in Berkshire for a long time now. Far too long! He may not be the little teddy bear type of dog that gets snapped up but he’s a loving, cheerful soul who deserves a home and, more importantly, people to call his own.

Mike loves human company, having the occasional chest scratchies and leaning against you but he also likes his own space where he can relax. Mike’s biggest love is food. He can do just about anything you ask him to for a treat!

He’s still a reasonably active chap and enjoys gentle walks with lots of sniffing opportunities as well as brain games to keep him happy.

Mike will need owners who are around for the majority of the day as he does not like being left alone. He can also be anxious in new indoor environments to begin with, so needs a quiet home with people who are willing to help him settle in gradually, having easy access to the garden and enrichment toys.

Mike would like to be the only pet in the home. He has a few dog friends at the rescue centre that he walks with. He can comfortably walk past other dogs when out and about but prefers not to meet them face-to-face if he doesn’t know them. Mike is looking for an adult home. He can be a bit boisterous at times and it doesn’t occur to him that not everyone likes being jumped up at even when they’re excited too!
