Sweet Lab/Collie cross, Roxy came into Oldies Club care when her owner had to move to sheltered accommodation.  The family were really sad to say goodbye to this lovely dog.   Fortunately, someone soon fell in love with Roxy and felt that she would be the ideal companion for her other ex Oldies Club dog, Kelsey.   We’ve just had this update and the lovely photos from Roxy and Kelsey’s mum.

Four weeks ago today I set off down the M1 with Kelsey in the back full of excitement at the prospect of meeting Roxy who had such glowing reports on the Oldies web site.    When we arrived at the foster home there was Roxy ready to greet us and my heart  just melted…..she is so soft  and gentle and that tail never stops wagging. Her foster mum was really sad to see her go but Roxy LOVES going in the car so she made the parting easier for us all.

Now we have all been together for a month and she is really settling into the routine and enjoying Kelsey’s company. I adopted Kelsey back in July another gentle 12yr old and we are out every day meeting up with the doggie gang of friends. Today Roxy was flirting with a  black lab called Bertie which was lovely to see. Ball games are interesting which they both enjoy in a limited way but when Roxy gets the ball she picks it up and walks off leaving Kelsey all bemused!

I know Roxy’s owner must be missing her but I hope she is reassured knowing Roxy is fine and  giving me so much joy, it’s a real pleasure having her. She is at my feet now as I type snoring away with Kelsey beside her.

Lots of tail wags from her and thank you Oldies club for letting me adopted another “Golden Oldie” I am truly blessed.”

Roxy and Kelsey have got a fantastic home and clearly love each other’s company.  We wish them and their mum a really happy life together.
