Update 12 March 2011 – we’re very pleased to let you know that Ruby has now been moved to a permanent foster home as an Oldies Club sponsor dog. Her page in our sponsor dog section will be updated soon. Thank you to those who have enquired about her :)

Sadly since arriving in her foster home it has become apparent that Ruby has some health problems, so Oldies Club have decided not to rehome her and would like to get her settled as soon as possible into a permanent quiet foster home where her vets bills will be covered by us for life.

Ruby had an episode recently which the vet thinks was probably a stroke. She has recovered well and is getting better each day, but she occasionally has ‘absent moments’ where she seems to stop what she’s doing and stare into the distance for a few seconds, and the vet suspects these could be tiny strokes. She has now been found to have an underlying heart condition and is starting medication for this, so we hope this will improve things for her.

Despite her problems Ruby is a lovely dog, very loyal and affectionate, and still enjoys life and loves a good walk. She adores company and would do best with someone who is home most of the time. Given her health we would prefer Ruby to go to a quiet home without young children.

Ruby has tolerated the other dogs in her current foster home, but never really liked being with them, and will growl or snap if they run past her and disturb her rest, so we feel she would be happiest as the only pet in the household where she could have all the attention to herself.
