17 July 2015: We are very sorry to have to let you all know that Gatsby very sadly passed away today. Although the vet had managed to get a good margin around most of his tumour, there was one part where it was not possible to obtain a good margin and the cancer had spread. Due to this and Gatsby having a severe reaction to his surgery, Oldies Club, in agreement with Gatsby’s vet and fosterers made the decision to let Gatsby go and run, pain free. A very difficult decision, but one made with love and with Gatsby’s best interest at heart.

Run free, Gatsby. Our thanks and thoughts go to the fosterers who have cared for Gatsby since he came into the charity’s care.

We are very grateful to all of you who have already donated towards Gatsby’s vet bill and will leave his fundraising page open should anyone else like to make a donation in his memory.

Gatsby is now reunited with his best doggie friend, Georgie, who sadly passed away due to very poor health after coming into our care. We did our absolute best to help both dogs and everyone at Oldies Club is extremely sad at this time :-(

~ Hello, my name is Gatsby. I was very sadly found to have cancer after coming into Oldies Club care and had an operation to remove the lump a few days ago. I am now back at my lovely foster home recovering from the surgery and receiving lots of TLC. ~

The estimate for Gatsby’s vet bill is around £1,500 at present, which is a lot of money for our small charity to find, alongside all the other vet bills. If you can help with a donation of ANY size, we would be incredibly grateful. We always ensure dogs in Oldies Club care receive whatever vet treatment they need, as if they were our own dogs, but we can’t do this without your help.

You can donate to Gatsby’s fundraising page via the above link – and please share this with your dog-loving family and friends.

Please keep our dear boy in your thoughts as he recovers from his surgery. Thank you :-)
