March 2011 – we are very sorry to say that little Jessie very sadly passed away :( Oldies Club is very grateful to her foster family for caring for dear Jessie.

Photos on this page are copyright © Leanne Graham of ShortDog Photography who kindly gave her time to help us. Many thanks to Leanne. (The videos were created by the foster carer.)

Jessie is a sweet little 15 year old Japanese Chin x Terrier who came into Oldies Club care with her brother Wag, but Wag was recently found to be very ill and he had to be put to sleep, leaving Jessie to find a new home on her own. Jessie has taken the loss of Wag in her stride though and she seems to be flourishing as an only-one. She is in an Oldies Club foster home permanently as a Sponsor Dog.

I’m a lovely old girl aren’t I

Introducing Jessie:
Jessie is a quiet and gentle girl who likes nothing better than a peaceful snooze. However, she does become quite lively in the afternoons. And, as you can see in the video below, she becomes quite lively when she wants to be fed!

Around the home:
Jessie’s housetraining isn’t great and so her fosterer puts paper down for her to wee on, which she uses at night or if left for a long time. She has cute short little legs and so can’t get up the stairs.

Good with cats: Jessie is excellent with cats, as you can see in the video below.

Good in the car and on the lead: Jessie is very good in the car, and walks well on the lead.

Jessie’s likes: Jessie enjoys sleeping – she likes to settle down in her own bed. She likes to sleep in the morning and then wake in the afternoon for a play session. Jessie’s not interested in toys, but she does like her food.

Jessie’s dislikes: Jessie is frightened of small children; they make her feel nervous, bless her. She can sometimes be a little jumpy if you walk up behind her – the foster carer thinks that this is because her eyesight is poor.

Could I have a cuddle please?

Health notes:
Jessie is neutered, vaccinated, microchipped, wormed and flea-treated. At her vet-check, the vet concluded that she is in good health considering her age. She has cataracts but this doesn’t require ongoing treatment.

Foster carer’s summary of Jessie: Jessie is just so funny and so cute. She is very loving and playful too and is excellent with cats. She tends to take the lead on walks. She sleeps all morning and comes to life at about 2 or 3 in the afternoon, then she gets playful. She doesn’t do toys though. :)
