Due to changes in our current volunteers’ availability, the Oldies Club’s rehoming team urgently needs more help. We are looking for a new volunteer to cover Thursdays, answering email messages and taking telephone calls, both from people who are looking for rescue places for their dogs and from potential adopters.
The telephone calls can be switched to a voicemail service and calls returned when convenient, so you don’t have to stay in or be tied to the phone the whole time, but some days do get very busy and rehoming can easily take up a large part of a day.
Quite a lot of computer work and admin is involved in recording calls and updating spreadsheets and other documents, so computer literacy and tolerance of doing the boring bits accurately is vital.
As part of a friendly team you will be given lots of support and guidance about the way we work and how to respond to particular calls or messages, and we make many of our decisions on a team basis.
As with all Oldies Club roles, this post is home based.
Rehoming can be emotional, infuriating and draining, but also immensely satisfying when you are able to help a dog in desperate need into a safe foster home, or see a dog go from a foster home to a perfect forever home.
If you are interested in an informal chat about it in the first instance, please email:
*The closing date for expressing an interest in this voluntary position is 7th May 2018.*
